Background
Jay is a luxury watch dealer based in the United States who aims to create a professional marketplace for luxury watches. This platform will offer free listing services to all dealers and private sellers.
Challenges
One of the main challenges lies in streamlining the listing process despite the numerous variables involved, such as dial color, case material, and bracelet details, etc. To address this, we developed an advanced watch database that simplifies the listing process. Sellers can select from existing watch models in the database; this selection automatically populates the listing with relevant details, allowing watches to be listed in just 1-3 minutes with comprehensive specifications. Another significant challenge is optimizing the search functionality to handle queries by brand, model, or reference number efficiently and without overloading the server. Our solution was to design a robust database structure that supports extensive site-wide searches, ensuring fast and accurate results.
Tech Stack
The frontend of the platform is built with Next.js and shadcn/ui, which enhances SEO performance and provides a modern user interface. The backend runs on Node.js with a MySql database, supporting the site's complex data management needs effectively.
