AJ Motors Sales Tool
Background
AJ Motors, the largest car dealer in the Waikato region of New Zealand, collaborates with AutoSure to provide Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) to customers. Previously, salespeople had to log into the AutoSure system separately to get a quote for customers. AJ Motors wanted to streamline this process by integrating their sale price with the MBI price into a single package. The required system needed to retrieve basic vehicle information from their website and integrate it with the AutoSure API to generate a comprehensive quote document including both vehicle details and MBI information.
Challenges
One significant challenge was that AJ Motors' website, managed by their stock management software provider, did not offer an API to access vehicle details. Therefore, we had to scrape data from the website to obtain the necessary vehicle information.
Tech Stack
The system's front-end was developed using Next.js, with a backend built on Node.js and a MySQL database.
